Hi, I just recently got a (Black) Macbook 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 sDRAM. My graphics card is a GMA950, which is somewhat bad, and I run snow leopard 10.6.4 . I downloaded and played left 4 dead via Bootcamp on Windows 7. When I play it I usually get 15-25 fps, and I is really terrible. Its lagy as **** and I'm annoyed. I know you can't change the graphics card. I was wondering if I upgraded my ram from 2GB - 4GB, and installed a 7200 rpm HD, if that would make it normal. Also I was wondering if you could change the processor from 2GHz - 2.4GHz would make any difference. I have read the the 7200 speeds it up alot, but all I want to do is play left 4 dead with no problems, just like I play on my 360! If there is any application or program that helps please say.

Thanks Alex :)

Sorry to tell you but a GMA950 just isn't up to running L4D.

More ram and a faster disk may help but the bottleneck is the GPU that you're stuck with i'm afraid

To the OP:

mrplow is correct. Even with the maximum amount of memory and a larger faster hard drive, you're still not going to get better frame rates out of the GMA 950. Unfortunately, the only cure is a newer machine.

Regards.

Same Problem

Hey guys I'm having the same problem except i have an aluminum macbook pro (late 2009) 2.53 Ghz, 4gb ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. Every time i put the game in, the menu screen works but when i actually start playing the game i cant see anything except for weird shapes. They told me it's the graphics card on the computer. Does anyone else have this problem, or know something i could do?

The 9400m is capable of playing games using the Source engine. You may need to dial back some of the graphics settings just a bit, but this is done through the game menus when you first run it. Have you tried adjusting them yet?
