Quits or shuts down an application in Windows.

Regards.

Command+W will close the application and command +Q will quit the program.

Windows switchers, please note that these two things are not the same.

Command-W closes the applications main (only) window, but does NOT quit the app; its still open, taking up RAM.

Command-Q actually QUITS the app. A "good practice" is to get into the habit of actually quitting programs you're not using, since this will make the programs you ARE using run at their best (since they don't have to compete for RAM).

Relaunching a Mac app generally only takes a second or two, so there's really very little reason to leave apps open all the time in most cases.
