burning dvds on macbook pro

Hi y'all,
Just got a macbook pro, used to mac g4s and imacs. Tried to burn an avi file to a blank dvd on the macbook and just kept getting an error message. Am I missing something? On my imac I just drag, drop and burn - do I need another programme to do the same on a macbook?

No.

You'll need to test to determine if this is a problem with the optical drive or just the brand of disk you're using.

OP, you say you got an error, but what is the error EXACTLY.

It has been a long while since I've done it, but I think you just insert a black disc, drag your files to it, and finally hit the burn button in the Finder.

Error message is: unexpected error occurred, 0x8002006E.
Used the discs on my imac without any hassle. Do ye think it's the drive then?

From what I could find that seems to be a common generic message. To see how common, check out the Macrumors thread. Many people there describe different solutions that worked for them. One guy tried this free Burn software and that worked for him. That isn't a real solution.

Search PRAM on that page and try that.

If your Mac is new, have Apple fix it.
