Need wireless optical mouse recommendations

have searched this forum but haven't found any current threads (i.e. within past six months) re wireless optical mouse recommendations.

I have the 12" iBook. I use a wired mouse at home and the mouse works just fine (both buttons and scroll wheel). However, I picked up a Targus "bluetooth" that works okay but the scroll wheel has never worked.

Since I'm doing more traveling, this lack of functionality is causing me to go slightly bonkers ... but likely will cause me to go screaming into the night if I can't get a replacement.

So, I'm looking for:
- wireless optical mouse (need not be bluetooth);
- small form factor so I can use it in small places and pack it in the backpack carrier (I like the size of the Targus -- it's about 3" long and less than 2" wide)
- two-button functionality; and,
- scroll-wheel functionality.
It would be nice if it was aesthetically consistent with the iBook but not necessary.

It would be really nice if it could summon a cold gin 'n tonic or iced tea ... but I digress.

Any help would be appreciated ...

Kensington makes one that's RF, uses a USB dongle for the receiver. Very nice and thrifty on the batteries and it's a decent size. Has two buttons and a scroll wheel. about $39. Only thing is it's black and silver if you can live with that.

I used to carry around my Apple bluetooth mouse but wanted something smaller so I went with the Logitech cordless optical mouse for notebooks. It is small but not too small(the same 3X2 inch size you mentioned) and is 2-button and scroll wheel. It comes with a usb dongle and the dongle and mouse come with a nice little form fitting neoprene bag to protect it when traveling. I got mine at Sam's but don't remember the cost but I found it here at Amazon for a little over $33, here is the link:

I was browsing the RadTech website one time looking at stuff and came across this...http://www.radtech.us/Products/BT500.aspx#...It looks like it suits your needs. Although it is pretty expensive, and if Bluetooth wasn't what you wanted then I guess it won't work either. But still, it fits the look of the iBook.

Also, another one that is wicked expensive but is supposed to be pretty good is "The Mouse BT" by MacMice. That's at http://www.dvforge.com/themousebt.shtml.

Good luck in finding a mouse that works out for you.

I'm not such a huge fan of DVForge: http://www.apple-x.net/modules.php?...=article&sid=1483&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

I like the look of this logitech mouse:

It has a compartment built-into the mouse for the cordless receiver and has a 4-way scroll pad that is touch sensitive...

I picked this mouse up on sale several months ago to use with my pc. plugged it into the ibook when I got it and it work right off the start. No extra drivers for the buttons or touch sensitive scrolling. It is a great mouse.

I highly recommend the Logitech Mx610 mouse, it is configurable with USB Overdrive, looks and feels good. The receiver is tiny! I really am enjoying it.
