Downgrade Safari

OS 10.4.11.

A quick question - how BEST to remove Safari 4.1.1, and reinstall 4.1? Any pitfalls, fish hooks or other traps for the unwary?

4.1.1 is clunky, with inexplicable delays, 4.1 was much better. I have the 4.1 .dmg from Apple, but have not tried to install it yet.

A quick Google search brought me to this page:

Doesn't list Safari 4.1, but it has Safari 4.0 and 4.0.1

I love seeing even the Older members and those that have had Mac's for quite a while asking questions. It goes to show you are human also ;P
And i have only seen 2 Mods ask for help since ive been a member, but its still nice to see ....

I once corrected a Mod on a matter of factual information, and feared for my life!!

Back to business ...

Thanks - so far - but I have Safari 4.1 already. My question is really about what effect removing 4.1.1, followed by reinstalling an earlier version, might have on other OS-related Apple applications.

I know I can use CleanApp, but it takes out absolutely everything associated with Safari, and I'd like to keep the cache and bookmarks. Not a major issue, but an inconvenience.

I guess I'll try deleting just the 4.1.1 app and its prefs, and see what happens after reinstalling 4.1.

when I do need some help I usually just Google. It's rare I don't find what I need. Most of my searching is for Windows Spyware and Virus's when I am working on a clients machine.



hughvane, this is on Tiger 10.4.11 I take it? I will see what I can find.
