Your specifications would be helpful, but I'll assume for now you're running either Leopard or Snow Leopard for the advice I'm about to give you. Providing your specs of your Mac would greatly help us assist you. ;)

Try repairing Disk Permissions.

Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility>select your local harddrive (should be named Macintosh HD, but that's up to you), select the First Aid tab, and click "Verify Disk Permissions". Then after that's done, click "Repair Disk Permissions".

Do you have another browser you can use? Such as Firefox, Opera or Chrome?

Here's what I would do. Disable all extensions. Open up Safari, go to Preferences (Menubar>Safari>Preferences), then go to the Extensions tab. There's a switch. Turn it to "Off"

What is MacHangout? Recently installed? Problem w/ Safari afterwards?
If yes to last two, uninstall MacHangout.

That was going to be my question. It appears that MacHangout are the makers of Glims. You can get the uninstaller here.
