Why does Firefox for Mac fail so hard at letting me revise eBay items?

I get sent on a continous "Please Sign In" loop, it refuses to continue to the edit listing page :\

Do you have cookies blocked? Interactive sites like eBay need to set or update cookies in order to work. The plugin AdBlock, if installed with FFox, may also be blocking eBay access. Disable it for eBay.

Failing all of the above, use Safari. I've found that to work where Mozilla browsers won't. Or Opera perhaps?

Any other ideas?

A Win client had continual trouble trying to log in via FFox to an airline website to buy a ticket. Same problem - not accepting the sign in.

It seems to be an issue with the way FFox deals with Java (interactive script). A change to Opera fixed the problem - but I can't explain why.
