I hope this is were the question goes. I am new to Mac and want to back up my quicken files to a cd until I get a hard drive. When I put a blank cd in the drive and go to finder, the drive does not show up. I suspect it is because I have not formatted the cd yet. How do I format a cd so I can do my backups?

Thanks,

Frank

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Helps enormously if you supply machine details. First question is a burner in whatever it may be? What does Apple System Profiler say? Using CD-R media? Is it quality media? No need to format CD just burn 'em .

Windows thinking. No "drive" shows up -- the icon of the CD appears on your desktop.
