Recover data from a formatted DVD

Since you can't use a "mini dvd" in your Mac, I'll assume you have a Windows machine or external DVD drive to use instead.
Anyway, the folks at Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery have software that can recover data from CDs, DVDs, and other media including hard drives. I have used their DVD - CD recovery software myself to recover photos from a dead CD and it works.
What I suggest is to first download their trial version to see if it can recover the data from your mini DVD. If it can, buy a license.
Another note.... They sell both Windows and Mac versions. I bought the Windows version and used it to recover the photos off a CD that was zapped by a wrong setting in OS X. (my fault)
