So on craigslist I came on this deal.

1.6 G5
1 gig ram
80 gig HD

And A 17" apple cinema display

And it also comes with a keyboard and mouse.

It was for 200 dollars. I want to know if this is a good deal. I do not own a Mac, but I have wanted one for two years no, and this seems like a good deal to try the OS and the "Mac experience"

Thoughts?

Flat screen Cinema or tube style? either way its a good deal. I got a steal for my G5 Dual Core 2.3ghz, 250gb hdd, (no airport or bt) with 2gb ram and a 20" HD Cinema Display for $340... i think the guy just lost his mind, but i purchased it within seconds of him posting it on CL.

Defiantly a good deal. You can always look up what the suggested resale values of them are... like on powermax.com

Flat screen....it's one of those tri stand things.
My parents won't let me buy it because they think it's not going to be good at all.

The specs are pretty much this

Used Power Mac G5 PCI/1.6 GHz

1.3 GB of RAM
80 GB internal drive
Internal SuperDrive
Internal 56k modem
Includes keyboard and mouse
Airport Extreme installed
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Video
OS 10.4.11 installed

This was $450 on power max.

Pity Wimzy but it sounds a good buy. Do not worry if you miss out as the 1.6GHz G5, being the very first model, did have quite a few problems with logic board failuresa, power supplies etc .
