The pricing of this is really going to determine if I upgrade. Usually I upgrade based on feature set but Office 2008 more than meets my needs so unless the academic pricing is really attractive, I'm not sure I'm going to be moving to Office 2011 anytime soon.

I don't know for sure... but I would think the academic pricing should be along the same lines as that for Office 2004, 2008.

Office 2011 is a must update for us as we really need to be able to use our time saving macros. I primarily use Office 2008 for our work but have to switch over to Office 2007 (and now 2010) to use and update the macro embedded documents that we have. A real pain.

Regards.

I'm running 2004 and we are rolling out 2010 at work. I'll probably buy 2011 if my employer lets me hook into our Exchange server for Outlook. That would save me toting my Thinkpad home every night. Other than Outlook, I don't really need Office anymore. Then again, if it came with an OS X version of Project or Visio, that would be a different story.

Education version will be $99 and is the same as the regular $199 version (it includes Outlook).

I saw that but I am more concerned as to what I can get through my school.

I've never seen Mac academic software cheaper through school like the Windows version. I'll be interested if you do.

You're most likely right but since I'm in no rush to get 2011, it's not that much of a concern.

For what it is worth, that double the price for Australia is about standard for Apple and Apple resellers which is why so strongly recommend places such as OWC for purchases. Even with USPS Air Mail rates goods come in at about half price!

Office for Mac 2011 College Student Version Pricing for Europe

Hi all,
I'm a mac and (unfortunately) office for mac 2008 user. I'm really looking forward to the 2011 version but I have a doubt I could not solve by myself browsing the net.

Is there a way to get an academic discount for Office 2011 for Mac if I am a student in an European university?

I could not find anywhere confirmation that I can get a college student version at the equivalent of 99 USD in Europe.

What price will they apply and what eligibility criteria should I fulfill?

Thanks a lot,

Mauro

They haven't released details yet and you can't order it yet. You'll need to wait until they give out the details, no one can tell you right now.

Thanks Schweb. I was wondering just whether they will have a discount for college students in Europe. Do you have any lead on this?
Thanks again.
