I just unlocked my iPhone 4 inserted my sim card and held the phone normally , Like I always do and it's still there. So I would venture to guess it's not a carrier issue. Either way no dropped calls just flat line bars.

Um, did you really think it was a carrier issue? Everything I've read has pointed to the phone not AT&T.....

Easy there. I think he was confirming what we already expected. It's always a good thing to remove all doubt.

Thanks for the real-life experiment, bargsbeer.

The best is there were about 4 separate stories out today about how antenna gate really was overblown and not even an issue.

I agree, It doesn't bother me because I have not had any dropped calls or data issues.

I noticed that you're using your iPhone on the T-Mobile network. How's that working out and did you sign up for the T-Mobile data plan?

Regards.

I have always had Tmobile (9 years now) I just recently became an At&t customer first with my iPad and then with my iPhone, But now that the unlock it out and stable,I'm going to just stick with At&t on the iPad and cancel the At&t service for the iPhone in a week or so. Right now I have been bouncing back and forth between the two swapping sims. The only difference is that the iPhone is not compatible with Tmobile 3G frequency, So your stuck with EDGE.
Other than that it works great, You have to cut your simcard to fit but it was easy took 2 minutes to do.

Is EDGE really that slow though? I've never really used my friends iPhones that much so I can't say for sure.

IMHO yes. There is a huge difference between EDGE and 3G.

ya EDGE is way slower, It's long been rumored that the iPhone 4 radio chip is actually compatible with Tmobile 3G but that Apple is hiding it. If so that would be great but obviously it would require a hack, Or wait for that rumored Tmobile iPhone that some say is coming this year.

Will that be before the rumored Verizon iPhone, or after it?

Depends...latest rumor has T-Mo before the end of the year and Verizon sometime next year.

But I've go my money on Revol wireless getting it first.

I heard Virgin Mobile is getting it first as Sir Richard has demanded it. He wants to give one away with every ticket purchased on Virgin Air, sort of a desperate incentive kind of thing.

I think I read an article somewhere that said the iPhone would essentially have to be redesigned from the ground up to accommodate the necessary CDMA hardware. I'll see if I can dig up the article...

And yet even though I only get 1 bar in my house, the death grip doesn't make the signal drop.
