how do i get my footage from final cut to a dvd without losing quality tiff files?

i finished editing a short documentary for school in final cut which used some tiff image files, i then exported it using dv pal and brought it in to dvd studio pro and burned it to a dvd. the footage looked okay (although it didn't look as good on a television as it did on a computer) but the still images looked reall bad. is their a better way to get the footage from final cut to a dvd? i have dvd studio pro, compressor, and final cut pro.
