I have the following iMac G5
Hardware Overview:

Machine Model: PowerMac8,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1.5 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.5f1
System Software Overview:

System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165)
Kernel Version: Darwin 8.11.0

I want to upgrade to 10.5.8 so I can use it with iPad and iPhone 4. Will leopard run well on the above or am I better off buying a new machine?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Well Leopard will run nicely on your iMac however a new Intel machine will run Snow Leopard OS X.6 even better but it always comes down to the readies available. If you want an Intel machine and can afford it go for it.
