My Powerbook G4 all of a sudden doesn't recignize the built in airport

Here's the story: My charger cable was chewed by my cat and wouldn't work. I wasn't planning on ever using it again so I went to my filehoster and put all my important documents on it. Then about a week later a friend found a charger and gave it to me. The laptop sat in the same place it had for a year and was never turned on. So I plugged it in, and let it charge and everything was working fine but all of a sudden it wouldn't let me connect through my airport anymore, and I went through every setting I could think of, me not being much of a Mac person, I didn't seem to do anything. Everything was working fine right until it died from the charger being broken. It keeps saying that it isn't detected. I was wondering if there was a way I could reset my airport, or restore the settings for it. I was wondering if there were more things I could try before I started really panicking. By airport I mean the Wi-Fi card, like I said, I am not much of a Mac person.
