iPhone 3GS won't sync with iTunes

13" Macbook Pro | 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo | 4GB of RAM | 320GB HD | Black 16GB iPhone 3GS |
Ever since I got my new Macbook Pro, my iPhone doesn't want to sync with it every time. I plug in the iPhone and it charges but nothing happens. Re-installing iTunes or putting the phone in recovery mode seems to do the trick. How do I fix this issue? Thanks.
