I just got a MacBook Pro 2 days ago. I want to use windows Quicken 2010 as I've read Quicken for Mac has many problems. If I install Parallels, do I also have to install a windows OS ie Vista or 7? That could get pricey just to run 1 program. Or, can I just run the pc version of Quicken from Parallels without installing windows OS? thanx

betty

Gosh - I luv this Mac over my old Dell!!!

Parallels, VMWare Fusion and VirtualBox are what's called Virtualization software..they create a Virtual Machine (VM) in which you install, usually, a different OS (guest) than the host OS.

So, in your case, you'd use Parallels to create a VM and install some version of Windows (a legal copy if needed) and then install Quicken inside the Windows installation..

Yes..it can get very expensive..but if you need Windows for many other things..it might make sense..

Regards
