Hi

Can anyone help please:Confused::Confused:

I've just bought a Lacie hardrive 1TB, Neil Poulton design. I have had the airport for about 5 years with no problems. I use it primarily for wireless music playback. The apple store advised me I could plug it into my airport express via a USB and I can then backup music, pictures etc to this using the wireless network.

So, set it up this evening and its not showing on my macbook either on the desktop or in finder. Searched via name of hard drive with no success as well.

I'm wondering if the hard drive needs re-formatting to work through airport and use time machine??

Any advice on how to resolve appreciated

Your Mac's Specs
2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
The specs for that drive claim it's compatible for use with Windows or Mac OS X so I have to assume it's formatted as FAT-32. It does not have to be reformatted.

Which model of Apple AE do you have? The Apple Airport Express ($99.00) model is not designed for use with a hard drive. The USB port is for a printer. The more expensive model Airport Extreme ($179.00) is what you would need for sharing a hard drive.

Regards.
