Senuti is no longer free, whats the best alternative?

A year or two ago there were several free programs, now i cant find any

That is for recovering music off a iDevice right?
I use iTunesFS, it is for mounting your iTunes library as a shared folder but it also has a trick up it's sleeve, it can also mount attached iDevices as a folder.
Then copying the contents over is a piece of cake.

Whoops, may be that it only works for a iPhone…

If recovering your music and photos is important to you, I should think it would be worth a few bucks.

Pod to Mac seems to do exactly what you're looking for, but it costs (gasp!) $20.
