Joystick / Gamepad question

Hi All,

Still a relative newbie to Mac and OSX and wondered if my iMac will take any USB Joystick / Gamepad or do I have to buy one specially for Mac?

I've really got into some old retro MAME games and would be able to play them a lot better if I had a joystick!
