Hi, this is my first time posting so apologies if this subject has been covered or i'm posting in the wrong place.

Does anyone know the best way to capture stills from a dvd?
Please no jargon, use layman terminology if you do, i struggle otherwise.

I have a macbook with OS X version 10.6.2 if that helps. I already tried the capture widget and downloaded the VLC player which didn't work, presumably due to the operating system i'm running.

Just out of curiosity - why not use VLC's built in screen capture ability?

While playing the DVD (or paused on the scene) select the Video dropdown then Snapshot (or press Alt+Command+S) and it will save a snapshot of whatever video is in the player at that moment.
