VIew multiple categories at once in itunes?

I'm wondering if it's possible to sort songs in itunes by artist as well as by year at the same time. What I'd like to do is hear all of the songs by one artist in chronological order. It looks like it defaults to the alphabetical order of the album names, which I'm not fond of. Is it only possible to effect this manually in playlists?

It's seems like this should be possible, but I can't figure it out.

Select show items in grid view and then select Artists






Then double click on the artist you want - in the one above, I selected John Martyn with 5 albums.

Make sure you have Year selected and available on the top bar as such:





If you don't have 'Year' showing, right click on that bar and put a check next to it on the pop up menu.
