So im going to be out on a ship for a month and would like to bring my macbook pro to watch movies on. The power on the ship is unprotected from surges and brownouts. There is a good chance the receptacles have no ground plug. Is there anyway to protect my macbook pro isnt harmed?

Purchase some sort of small "personal" surge protector such as this (if you search around, you may be able to find something even smaller):

Walmart.com: Belkin Mini Notebook Surge Portector with Built-In USB Charger: Computers

In regards to the 2 or 3 prong outlet on the ship...get one of these at your local home center:

Hope this helps...enjoy the "cruise"/deployment ;),
