I currently have the original 160 GB HDD in my machine. I want to upgrade to at least a 500 GB but wouldn't mind having a 1TB if I can find one at the right price. However, I think 500 GB would be enough for future proofing, at least for my current needs. Prefer 7200 RPM.

My Mac is a 2.2 GHz Macbook Pro 15" (Santa Rosa).

Any suggestions for a good quality hard drive (with links if possible).

Thanks,

Matt

MBP 13, 2.4, 8GB, 120GB SSD OCZ
I have the Hitachi 500gb 7200rpm. It's awesome. Very quiet. Gets a little warm when it spins for more than half hour but other than that reliable so far after 4+ months.

OWC~MacSales is a great place to start as well. The test all there hardware to make sure its right, before it goes into your Mac.
When @ the site, click on the MyOWC tab then follow the prompts.
It will then bring up a list of every compatible HD for your particular Mac.
I couldnt recommend them highly enough !!!!!

Cheers
