How to open with dmg and not save as a binary file...?

I am trying to download Silverlight on my mac. The instructions say to open the file but the only option is to save it. Also it says its a Binary file but is supposed to be a DMG file....please help! Thanks!

Go to Home : The Official Microsoft Silverlight Site

If you need a newer version than what's already installed, it will auto pop up a window asking if you want to install it. Click yes. It will auto dowload the dmg.

After you install it, you will need to quit Safari and restart it.
