Will this hard drive fit in my Macbook?

In theory it should. You will lose the Sudden Motion Sensor tho.

The Sudden Motion Sensor is actually built onto the Logic Board. Its a part of the Accelerometer that is built into every Mac notebook. The idea is that if your notebook detects rough movement or a fall, it will park the read head so that on impact, there will be no data loss.

But in order for it to function, it requires code that is written into the custom firmware of every OEM Mac notebook hard drive. Replacing the OEM hard drive will work, but the sudden motion sensor will not.

Many of the newer hard drives being sold including those from WD and Seagate have a built in sudden motion sensor. You would need to do some research to see which drives offer that capability. Whether or not they have been coded for use with Apple notebooks shouldn't matter as long as it's built into the drive.
