Snow Leopard and Windows server 2008 R2

We are trying to get our Mac server and clients to authenticate to a windows server 2008 R2 domain, students access windows and mac based machines using the same account. I have heard there are problems with 2008 R2 and Mac's but not sure if these are just rumours. We do have problems joining a Mac client to the domain but not sure if the problem is R2 related or something else. Thanks.
