Hey everyone.

Never owned a Macbook and need some help here. My girlfriend is into design, mostly using the Adobe CS at the moment; Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

She wants to switch to Mac since it's the design standard and she's going to be looking for jobs soon. My question is, which Macbook is the best value for her? I'm basically looking between these two:

$1199

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

250GB 5400-rpm hard drive

NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor

OR

$1799

2.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor

320GB 5400-rpm hard drive

Intel HD Graphics

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 256MB GDDR3 memory

Now I'm just trying to figure out if the extra 600 dollars is worth it. That's a lot of extra cash. Seems to me that you're just getting a bigger screen and a better CPU. The improved HDD size and graphics option are pretty negligible IMO.

How much better would the performance be with that core i5 over the C2D?

Also, what kind of RAM do these have? And how much?

Last question, what is the performance like on these? Why exactly are Mac better for design?

Really would appreciate help in answering these questions. Thanks a lot everyone!
