ok so like many of you i was excited about the new iPhone OS release but as we all know its a slug on the 3G so i found out how to do downgrade your os back to which ever you desire
**NOW REMEMBER THIS WILL ONLY DOWNGRADE THE OS THIS WONT CHANGE THE BASEBAND***
You will need to acquire a few thing off the net first :
1) your desired os ipsw. the file name should look something like this iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
a) depending on what ipsw you download the 3.1.* will be different
2) you will need to download irecovery its out there just search for it
3) and a little terminal knowledge (dont worry its not that hard)

The one thing i had a stumble with is when you use irecovery in terminal. In the step where it says to launch irecovery in terminal the command they give is not right.
When you download irecovery put it on the desktop for easy access. Open terminal and the command you need to type into terminal is this /Users/yournamehere/Desktop/irecovery -s (this will launch irecovery in terminal)
After that just keep following the steps in the guide and all will be good!!
