I have just aquired a power mac G5 that is running 10.4

and i really want to upgrade the OS to leopard 10.5 and upward, avoiding snow leopard as it does strange things to Pro Tools.

Could I install the leopard I have on my mac book and get away with that or will apple unleash the dogs of war on me?

how is OSX licensed?

If anyone has a version that they want to sell cheap i'm open for that as cheapest I found were around £60 - £100, which I don't want to pay for as snow leopard is only £25.... hmmm

The restore disks from your other machine will not work on any other model

Snow Leopard will not work on a G5, Snow Leopard is for Intel Macs only

You may find second hand retail copies of leopard on ebay (they will be black not grey). If they are asking too much money, try contacting Apple. While Apple do not sell Leopard in stores I believe they will provide copies to buy if you ask them - and that may well be cheaper than the prices sellers are asking on the Internet.
