Flash slowdown recently

Over the past few months or so flash has started to become really slow. E.g. when watching a flash video the image will freeze and audio will cut in and out.
It used to be fine with this happening very occasionally every few months or so but now it will happen a few times a day :(

Any suggestions for what's wrong?

Have you tried updating to the newest version of Flash (10.1)? There are some nice improvements in terms of performance on the Mac in that release.
