Powemac G5 (Issues)

Hi there, i have a powermac G5 1.6 i have been using it quite happy for a few months, i have now just this last week had problems....

The mac freezes on the boot up? i have reinstalled the os 10.4 (Tiger) and the problem was fixed, but then it froze again later in the week?

Does anyone have any susgestions into what this problem could be?

its taking about 50 times for me to get the mac to boot from the DVD Drive to run the setup?

Boot the mac up...wait for the bong then press and hold "C" until we boot from the DVD Drive?

Yes that is correct and consider you have either a failing optical or hard drive. If you do get booted from the DVD, go to Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Disk and see what is reported.

Next step is to boot from the original install discs that came with the machine, disc one, and run Apple Hardware Test extended. You do have the original discs?
