Hi All,

Does anybody have experience upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6? I switched when Leopard first came out, and on the PC side, upgrading was usually risky compared to simply reformatting and reinstalling everything. But these days I'm a lot busier, and don't really want to be bothered reinstalling all my apps, rebuilding my file structure, and generally starting from scratch.

Are there any issues with just using OSX's upgrade function? Or should I really be thinking about setting aside a weekend to reformat and reinstall?

Thanks!

10.5 is Leopard, 10.6 is Snow Leopard (a new version of the OS). The upgrade will require you to grab the Snow Leopard CD, pop it in, wait for about 30 or so minutes and you'll be upgraded with no problems at all..

Everything you have should remain and shouldn't be any issues..most programs have already been upgraded to work with SL..so worse comes to worse, you'll have to upgrade your apps..

Hi All,

Does anybody have experience upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6?

You REALLY need to let us know what the specs are on your Mac...since 10.6 is not compatible with all Macintosh computers...in other words, 10.6 actually will not install depending on your Mac age & configuration.

So at this point it's not so much if other folks having experience with upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6...in your case you may not even be able to do it (depending on your computer).

...especially the processor, ie: G4 G5 or Intel...

SL won't run on G series.

Yup..you're fine..your Mac can be upgraded..

Make a backup of important data just incase and it's good to have a backup scheme anyway..
