Good day everyone

This is my first experience with MAC OS X. I am a physics major at SFSU
working for an Oceanography team with CODAR.

My boss uses Macs so here I am. I will be setting up the data capture machines
and helping to trouble shoot the network conncetions.

My only experience is with CentOS and Ubuntu Karmic. I have gotten pretty good with those two and am feeling the growing pains of learning a new system.

Do you have any advice where I should go to for help and reading about Darwin
and the BASH that is associated with it. I notice some programs don't work the same, i.e. pkill and pgrep.

Also, I can't figure out how to re-paritition the HD. Will Parted Magic work from Live CD ?

Thankyou in advance,
wbg

Disk Utility in the Utilities folder is used for several disk actions including partitioning. I don't have enough experience with it to give any advice. Don't use anything not meant for a Mac.

As for Darwin, Apple is the logical place to start a search. They have docs on everything that is public. The man pages should help you clear up differences from what you are used to. These two links might be good starting places; 1, 2.
