It's nice to hear that 10.7 is being worked on but so far I'm really liking Snow Leopard. I would be curious what Apple has planned for 10.7. I don't really need gimmicky new features but if they have worthwhile new features like when they introduced Expose, Time Machine, etc then I would be interested.

Usually what I care about in an OS is the speed, performance, super reliable stability, and useful features that makes the user experience a good one.

That is probably one of the most insubstantial articles I've read. They basically didn't say anything. :)

THere is absolutely no information out there, the opposite of Microsoft, who announce a product (Vista, Windows Phone 7) and manage to ship years later.

I am going to put my own prediction in, based on no inside knowledge whatsoever.

1. Touch screen and gestures support on OSX
2. Support for iPad games and applications

This is more of a generalized assumption, but I think Apple is up against the wall here with 10.7. Of course, I could very well be 100% wrong on that, but, if you look at what Snow Leopard already has, what is there left to implement?

There is always something new to add or in the case of OS development, something to adapt from a competitor (this goes for all OS developers) ;).

Ahh remember the days when OS X launched .. there was nothing that could be improved on OS 9.2.1 and the urban myths, if you installed without updating firmware you could (allegedly) fry your mother board etc etc.

Course there will always be new features to operating systems to generate more bucks for the manufacturer. Simple fact of life.

Better support for networking with Windows. It could use a bit more work.

The challenge for all OS developpers will be to make it very easy for people to have
" access to content " whatever the platform the content is sitting on.
I believe OS X needs to come with better integration capabilities for companies to embrace the OS and allow it to become part of their IT Infrastructure.

Cheers ... McBie
