Imac 27" with HDTV w/o imac display

Hello

i was wondering if it was possible to connect my imac 27" to an HDTV and then not use the Imac display, in other words on use the HDTV as the primary display and make the imac display sleep for the most part.

I have done my research and could not find any info on this topic anywhere.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

No, not exactly.

You could connect them - check Mirrored Mode in Displays preferences and then turn the brightness all the way down on the iMac screen.
