Mac Mail 4.2 not searching IMAP

I configured my mac mail to go 100% imap on gmail with no local copies on my mac. When I search mail it is not finding anything because it does not include the IMAP email in the search. IMAP supports this but does Mac Mail 4.2?

Are you saying that you have your Mac set to not keep copies of your Gmail and you still need to search emails on your Mac ? The only way to search it now will be thru your browser at gmail.com.
