Partion Help With a Usb External Hard drive

I have a usb cable external hard drive im using an ibook g4 my hard drive on my ibook dont show up so what im trying to do is install OS using the external drive .. but I see That i have to have a guid Partion scheme when i click options all i get is apple partion scheme and pc partion trying to install Tigger os i do not have any Os installed on Ibook what can I do about this to get this Ibook Working it dont have any Os Installed Please Help me Not an exoert With Macs I also Have a Windows Laptop

i only have the ibook and a windows laptop but the cd drive on the ibook do work
thats how i boot the cd would i be able to install os with the external hd if i used a diffrent os version ? My internal hd dont show up thats y im trying an external hope u could help

You can not install Tiger from an external USB drive since the G4 will not boot from it. The iBook can only be booted with a firewire connected external drive. I assume your internal DVD drive is not working?

Do you have another Mac you can use which has a firewire connection? If you do, you can try the install using Target Mode.
