Hi there,

Has anyone tried using 3rd party batteries for their Macbook? I need a replacement battery but $159 seems a little bit steep. I'm looking at 3rd party batteries but I haven't a clue if I can trust them or not.

Thanks!

If you buy from a reputable seller of Apple parts or replacement parts, a third party battery should be fine. However, be aware that less expensive batteries found on eBay and Craig's list are usually not up to par with genuine Apple batteries.

OWC is a reputable Apple parts dealer and has batteries. Their replacement batteries run around $99.00 + shipping.

Regards.
