MBP TV sound

I recently connected my mbp using my dvi output with a vga cable to my lcd tv it worked fine except that I did not have any sound coming out from the tv only my laptop speakers. Is there a way that I can hook up my mbp to my tv with video and audio? I was thinking something like this:

MBP-->DVI out-->HMDI-->TV

Will this give me video and audio?

It will not, unfortunately; DVI doesn't carry sound.

What audio inputs does your TV have? I would keep your current DVI->VGA video hookup, but also use your MBP's audio-out port for sound. What specific cable you use depends on your TV's audio inputs, which is why I ask.
