Hello There,

I have a white macbook(Processor : 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) that has airport extreme (0x14e4, 0x88). in some wireless networks that operate at speed 108(I don't exactly know but i think it's 802.11n network) I got 'Time Out' Error when i want to connect. IS there any patch i should install or something should be done?

Thanks in advance.... :)

The only 108 Mbps WiFi routers I have seen use a Proprietary standard to get 108 Mbps. Netgear and Dlink had 108 Mbps routers which needed their own proprietary network card on the computer to get the 108 Mbps speed. Otherwise other computers and WiFi Adapters would connect at 54 Mbps which is the Wireless G Standard. I own both a Netgear WGT624 and Dlink with 108 and they connect at 54 Mbps as they are G routers.

N is a whole different standard all together.

I hope the above makes sense as I am half asleep at the moment! :D

Here is a URL with some info.

http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wirelessrouters/tp/80211g108mbps.htm

So for example, if you own say a Netgear WGT624 108 Mbps Router, it will connect at 54 Mbps (Wireless G) unless you also purchase a 108 Mbps WiFi adapter made by Netgear. So with any Mac or any normal computer, you will not get the 108 speed but 54.

What encryption are the 108 networks using? WEP? WPA? WPA2?

Main reason I talked about the 108 and what it was is I wanted to be sure you understood it was not an N network. I was so sleepy when I posted that info I missed your other question. Sorry!
