Lets say the currently active tab is M-Forums, by pressing command+option+w I can close all tabs around the current tab leaving just the M-Forums tab open.
When I look under the "File" menu, I can see "Close window" command+shift+w and "Close Tab" command+w, nowhere do I see the option to close all tabs except the currently active one.
Can anyone else reproduce this, is it a bug, or a feature not yet documented?

My Safari 5 in the File Menu shows the same thing you are seeing. I never look there to close Tabs. Are you sure it's different than Safari 4?

Nope, it's been around at least since Safari 4. I keep a copy of my last backup of Leopard before I installed SL around for troubleshooting and that keyboard shortcut works even there.

Never used it though. Not really into that many keyboard shortcuts if I can right click and get there.

Agreed with Bobtomay. Just checked it out here on 2 Macs. The Command from the file menu closes the window and thus all the tabs, doing the Command+Option+W only closes all but the active TAB. So it must be a bug as it does not even do what the menu says those commands do! :D

Ok, was just curious if it was just me, or if it was caused by some plugin I installed.

Thanks so much for reporting it! I will send off a report later to Apple. I am like Bob in that way and might have never noticed the keys did not work correctly!

Again thanks for the heads up!

Wait, what was the bug? Undocumented shortcuts are not bugs! Many of them are useful features.

That's Shift-Command-W

Opps, it was late and I was half asleep! :D

You are correct.

Tech, In Safari 4 the command from the keyboard worked and closed the Window and app open Tabs. Now it does not work like it says in the File Menu and close the Window and app tabs.

Just a note. After I installed a rather large security update on 10.5.8 tonight on my iMac G5, the Command+Shift+W works like it did in Safari 4 at least on this machine. Looks like they fixed it. Will try it on 10.6.4 tomorrow.
