Im trying to burn a data CD with some pictures. My iMac keeps ejecting CD's. I tried burning a DVD and it worked fine. Any ideas whats going on here? I can read from both a DVD or CD also.

Also getting this message: Burning the disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed. (Error code 0x80020022)

Wow, this is a turnaround! Most threads of this topic complain of burning cds but not dvds.

It would help us to know more about your Mac, and what you're trying to burn the cd with. If it's the Disk Utility burn function, then try Toast (if you have it), or Burn, a free application from Burn - Home.

The error message suggests a slight hardware problem, so boot from your OS Install Disk and use Disk Utility to run a hardware check, and repair if necessary.

Also the brand of your media may be the problem. What discs are you using and CD+R?

I am using Sony CD-R. I can't even get the CD to stay in now. I was going to try using toast but the machine ejects the CD right away. Im going to try the OS install disc and a hardware test.

Earlier Macs liked certain CD formats and as mentioned they had to be CD+R (not -R). Another thing I found was to drop the speed to slower (from Best) and that helped sometimes.

And it does help if you provide model information with your post. If it is an earlier iMac, CD+R for sure.
