Hi all,

I picked up a dead rev. A imac for $5 (missing HDD,RAM,Processor, video ram, and analog board)

and i had the idea to turn it into a fish tank.

Can anyone give me a link to how this is done?

Also, since the analog board is gone, will i still have to worry about getting shocked by the monitor when i take the guts out?

My setup: 17in SD iMac G5, 1GB RAM & 12in iBook, 1.5GB RAM (Both computers standard config.)
i have an old iMac shell sitting in my room right now and my dad keeps telling me he is going to throw it away if i don't do something with it. A while back i came across a site that sold "pre made kits" with everything included so you could put it together. If i fine it i will post it.

Turning your old iMac into a fishtank sounds like an awesome idea. I would love to see pictures of this thing when you are done.

mmm. i guess U could try ebay again :) Another option might be to go to your local mac repair shop and ask them if they have any dead imacs.

http://www.ebay.com

Update:

Started removing components from imac!
Now all i have left is the monitor parts and the power supply
i am still hesitent about taking the CRT out but i guess i have no other choice :(
