No Wifi issue

I have an iPhone 3G that I have been using for almost 2 years. Never had a problem with wifi. I really don't use wifi all that often except at home. I've noticed in the past week or so it hasn't been connecting/detecting any wifi. If I go to settings it just searches and searches.

I just did a reset and now when I go to settings the wifi option is grayed out and says "no wifi". Reset it 3 times and it's the same. Also tried resetting the network settings with no luck. Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix it?

Looks like a failed WiFi chip or antenna..might have to take it into the Apple store to have them take it apart and fix..

Yeah..especially if the phone itself is telling you "No Wifi", then it's more of an internal fault..maybe an excuse to upgrade?

I was planning on pre-ordering the iphone 4 tomorrow but wanted to sell my 3g to cover some of the cost. Looks like I will have to hold off ordering until I can get to Apple.

I got it to work! Powered it down, took the SIM out, powered back up w/o the SIM and voila...wifi started working. Put the SIM back in and it still works! Too bad I'm still selling it ;D
