2nd Gen MBA with 128MB SSD. This has had very intensive use and the SSD
appears to now run quite slowly, in line with what I have read about SSDs with
no TRIM command or Garbage Collection.

Any advice on best way to reformat to original state?

I believe the standard Disk Utility format may not be the best way?

Thanks in advance

Disk utility should be fine, you would be best to reformat it to DOS format - which is FAT32 - to ensure the card can be used by both Mac and Windows machines
