Your G4 is looking for a network drive to boot from. Are you running a home network?

Regards.

Thanks for your reply,

Yes, I'm running a Windows/Ethernet 10/100 network.

I just got the G4 and it connects with the internet through the router but I haven't seen it on the network yet.

What do I do to get it to boot?

Thanks,
Joe

I think I have a HDD Problem.

I unplugged the ethernet cable and booted up. Got the square and globe.

But when I plugged in the cable I got the flashing ? icon that means it's not finding an OS.

:(

Did you receive install recovery media with the G4? If you did, boot the G4 with the install CD (hold down C key after you hear the chime) and run Disk Utility. Do a verify and repair on the hard drive. (FSCK)

Post back results.

Regards.

Hold down the Option key at start up to bring up a list of volumes to boot from. Select one and click the right facing arrow icon to begin boot process.

When you get the Boot Disc, you start up with the C key. When the installer appears, mouse up to the menu bar and choose Utilities- Change Startup Disk. Choose startup disk and click reset.
