Hello guys, this is my first thread and first message, i just wanted to find some help.
I've been trying to install Windows 7 on my macbook lately O:) . I opened up bootcamp, and began partitioning my hard drive. I was on my way to get Windows! Or was I...? In the middle of things, bootcamp suddenly stopped with a message: "Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."

I thought, "huh, that's easy". But disk utility doesn't let me erase the volume, by simply not letting me click the buttons. I've tried everything but "repair"(it doesn't let me click it either) in disk utility's "first aid", but then found out that I need my Mac OS X dvd. Unfortunately, I don't have it in possession right now and I won't have it for the next two months. But I had not given it up just yet, trying to partition the disk in Disk Utility. I've tried doing many different formats and sizes, but Disk Utility quit on me, saying that the partition is failed, and telling me to try to reduce the size of the new partition (obviously, I've tried that). After about two hours of this nonsense, I had finally given it up, and decided to ask some experts on this lovely forum. So how do I install windows without my Mac OS X installation dvd, or even, how do i make bootcamp or Disk Utility partition the hard drive?

You don't. My advice is to stop while you're ahead and still able to boot to OS X. Go to the nearest Best Buy or Apple Store and buy a copy of Snow Leopard and then go back and try again.

Without an install recovery DVD, you would not be able to do anything with Windows anyway because you need that DVD to install Windows drivers.

Regards.
