Just got an Imac. Stilll have my mac book pro.

I bought the fire wire 800-400 so i cud connect my external hardrive/ fire wire hub into my new computer but it did not work..

So i go back and exchange the 800-400 for a 800 9pin to 4 pin cable so i cud directly capture my video clips onto FCP. STILLL DOESNT WORK!

Any suggestions pllllleeeeeaassseeee

What kind of hard drive? Make, model? Sounds like you do not have the correct cable.

Regards.

Does the Lacie work OK with your MBP?

Are you trying to adapt a 400 FW output of the Lacie to the FW 800 input of your iMac?

What are you trying to do? (you can't go 400 to 800)

Regards.

Which iMac? Which cable? Which version iMovie? Which version OSX?
Newer iMacs have a single 9-pin firewire port on the back near the rest of the other USB, video and audio in/out ports. Older iMacs have one or more 6-pin firewire ports... So check the compatibility of firewire to macbook.. And then choose 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable or a 4-pin to 9-pin firewire cable. If you often use more than one internal hard drive, just choose a hdd dock fw w/ 800 400.. Check it here:
