i have the older apple bluetooth keyboard that i paired with my macbook pro for a while now. however, i sold my mbp and i want to connect this keyboard to my desktop pc. i read that you need to first delete the pairing from my laptop to pair with a new computer, but since i don't have it, this is impossible. is there any other way i can delete the original pairing or somehow pair to my new desktop?

Pull the batteries out of the keyboard and let it sit over night. That should get it back to its factory default. Actually though, you should be able to re-pair it to your PC even without doing that. Give it a try and see what happens.

Regards.

Assume your desktop actually has Bluetooth installed?
